Kirsten Ashbaugh, CFP®

Financial Advisor | Financial Planner | Manager of Strategic Planning & Training | Technology Manager

Kirsten joined Wilkinson Wealth Management in 2020 from a career in intelligence and national security. Kirsten serves multiple functions for our office. As an advisor, she interacts with clients, but she also assists with portfolio management and selection, financial plans (so you may interact with her as well on planning), and technology management. She applies techniques from her intelligence background to highlight the financial information most important for a client’s personal situation, and she enjoys empowering clients to increase their own understanding while having the trusted support of an advisor. Kirsten is available to help clients with managing assets, determining insurance needs, and comprehensive financial planning, including planning for major purchases, education, and retirement.

Kirsten has degrees in international relations and national security from American University and Georgetown University. She worked for several years at the Department of Defense as an imagery analyst and team lead on issues related to countering the proliferation of advanced weapons, as a daily intelligence briefer for a senior leader in the agency, and on initiatives for artificial intelligence and computer vision. After a stint in the private sector for a cybersecurity startup, she decided to pursue her goal of working with people on a more personal level to enhance their financial situations.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Kirsten relocated to Charlottesville in 2020. Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys exploring the local culture and food and is a particular enthusiast for the great bakeries in Charlottesville. She and her husband enjoy hiking in the beautiful central Virginia area, and they love to travel, with a goal of visiting at least one foreign country every year. Some of her favorite places she has visited include Iceland, Colorado, Argentina, and France (where she likes to practice her very rusty French!).
